that vet surely had to be mistaken i have lifted sacks of sugar heavier than that and nowhere near as large anacondas are all girth and pure muscle not to mention they have hundreds of ribs so my opinion agrees with you Arik that dr must have been mistaken how much of the snake did he put on the scale just her tail lol

Ariks snake is still young and has not started to put on girth yet. After he gets his snake eating rabbits, watch out.

We weighed her in a plastic rubbermaid tub. Then we weighed the tub withought her in it. Subtract the latter from the former and you should have an accurate weight.
I recieved an email from Kelly that said she was about 10lbs below what he would expect but that it was not serious.
I think that since she still wont take a rabbit its because of the smaller prey items (guineas, lg rats, etc).
She definately has good muscle tone and does not appear to be starving.
I'm going to get her something to eat tonight though.lol Time to start feeding her more vigorously I guess.
After seeing those pics from Renee I wish mine would take P/K but I think she's close to starting. Today my plan is to get two prey items and feed the first one live and while she's busy with that one I'll throw the second one in P/K. Should be a good way to start the switch.

They are hard to trick...good luck. If you want weight...why not feed a few things...4 jumbo rats is more than 1 rabbit. My girl will take a number of chicken parts and a baby chick if i give it to her. I dont want to move my ball python to rats so I give her 3-5 mice a week. The large prey items worries me sometimes too...those Amazon tree boas sure dont look like they can fit the huge mice they take in that skinny little neck...but mine will eat huge mice to where you can see all 4 bones separate really far apart.

I'm of the opinion that one large prey item is preferable to a number of smaller. More protien. But if a choice had to be made I would feed smaller rather than starve a snake waiting on it to take what 'I' want it to.

Arik's female is still young and is not putting on much girth at this point. When she gets a little older and into the 10 to 12 foot range she will start bulking up provided she has adequate food intake.
