How long can I keep them in this tank?

crtoon83 May 13, 2004 10:35 AM

I have two RES, they are right now living in a 20 gal long tank. I'm not going to be able to get them a bigger tank, and I realize it will be easier to find a new home for them right now, but i'm afraid they may end up with someone who just doesnt care, doesn't put them under the correct lights, or anything. there seems to be no repile adoption agency around here. I just know it's impossible to get a bigger tank. Right now they are about 4 and 5 inches long (length of shell). Any ideas on what I should do????

It's much appreciated. -Chris

why cant you get them a bigger tank? you sound like you care...and if money or space is an issue--ask people for advice on that. like money was an issue for me for a while---so i asked all my friends and family to give me money for my birthday. it was awesome--i was able to afford the 46 gallon tank and the fluval 304 filter. but before the filter...i just had the tank and i would change the water with the python siphon. i know how you must feel if the turtles are close to you---if possible, try to keep them.

Where are you located? Lots of rescues are networked and we can find a good home for you animals.

moving into a new apartment, and they wont let me have a bigger one. i found a girl locally who has a pond out back with 2 RES already living in it, however they are nearly twice the size. she's adopting them for me. thanks
