Since there have been a couple of posts about these guys I did a bit of reading. This year there will be billions( 1.5 million per acre) of 17 year cicadas emerging in the eastern midwest (Indiana). They seem to be an incredible food source, they spend thier lives feeding on sap from trees which is virtually pesticide free. They cannot bite or sting and just about everything that eats insects takes advantage of them as a food source. If I see them here in Illinois I will definetly be feeding them to my dragons. Search for periodical cicadas on the web, check out the brood maps to see when they will be coming to your area.
