three cheers for helga

jeune18 May 13, 2004 01:02 PM

hey all
i saw helga eating yesterday and i must say watching them eat is one of the cutest things i have ever seen. she was "attacking" those pieces of vegetables. she also had no problem taking her calcium this morning either. it is so funny because it is lemon flavored and when it first touches her tongue she twitches over the sour flavor and then laps it right up. and she was a real champ getting her shot this morning. she did not even flinch, although i did. i have mad respect for anyone who has to administer shots to people or animals. how are everyone else's lizards?

well i am glad that i rock. below is a post i wrote the other day explaining her shots

hey guys
i finally took helga to the vet. she was 192 grams and the vet said she was a little too skinny since she had dips by her tail. while i was there another part of a toe fell off. she has three missing toes and three that are on there way to falling off. he also said she had MBD and gave me liquid calcium for her bones and antibiotics that i have to inject to keep her toes and feet from getting infected. he also said her skull was soft. poor little girl. it made me cry when i got back to my car. he said she will be fine but it is just terrible that that pet store did this to her.
once i get paid again and can afford the blood work and fecal exam (i only did the meds today)the total sum of her vet bill will be like $300

Did you ever find out what kind of conditions at the pet store caused that to happen to helga?

oh yeah they kept her in a tank with no lights and no heat, just at room temperature and when i asked why she was like that they said "we ran out of lamps for in store use"
