skinny iguana ... :/

DragonEmpress Jun 16, 2003 08:56 PM

Heys,

i got a call from someone who wanted me to take in their ig...so i did...and its really skinny!

They had it in a 55 gal glass tank and its about 2 feet long..and around 3 years old they said. I had it for 2 weeks now, it's been eating and everything normally and has its own room, but its not gaining any weight at all. The bones near its tail show, and its tummy caves in. i took it to the vet and it (she, we think) didn't have any worms, i thought that maybe that was the problem...

Does any one have any ideas on how i can fatten her up a little? Or should i just give her time and stop being so paranoid?

Thanks for any advice!

It's likely that time on a good diet will fatten up this poor ig. Did the vet do bloodwork as well as a fecal culture? If not, you may want to have that done to rule out other health issues if you don't start seeing weight gain within the next month or so.
