A general question regarding JCPs...

toddg May 13, 2004 04:14 PM

Hi all,

As I am sure many of you do frequent the classifieds to view all the herps you can not afford, lol. I am guilty of course, so I noticed something that stood out like a sore thumb. It seems 9 out of 10 classified listing have a mix of JCPs with "diamond" pythons. I have heard of Diamonds before and remember years back when the two crossed. Why so many hybrids with these two species? Personally, I think the JCP's are just as attractive with some exceeding the beauty of the diamond mix. Perhaps in person I may see why.

BTW, Bennick, I love the coloration of your VPI - VPI X Sipperly JCP. I really like the purple tongue with the BIG vertical eyes. One more thing, will the colors continue to intensify? I can not tell the age of the snake by the pic. A truely remarkable snake.

I don't understand the Jungle Diamond crosses ether. I have seen a few crosses that looked wonderful but they will never look as good as a nice PURE jungle or PURE diamond. I don't know why so many people feel the need to produce more mutts, but as long as they label them as crosses I have no problem with them.

The jungles of mine that you referred to are '03's. They still should color up a bit more, they are normally at their best at about 2 years of age. When they get older they may fad a little or gain some black or brown or, if I'm lucky they'll get bright and stay that way.

Thanks for the complements on my snakes.
