Give the python some time. If it's healthy, they'll be able to go some time without food. I have a banana king snake that was a voracious eater (a large hopper every 5 days) and then escaped. Found him 4 months later and wouldn't eat for about a month. Finally started eating again, but only when I wasn't in the room and usually at night. Now he back to his old self. They become accustomed to being free and move about at will. When caught and returned to their cage, they undergo a stress period. This will usually pass with a little time and should not be problem.
