What should I do next?

Hi, I have a 10 month old Savanna Monitor. He currently is about 11.5 inches long (including the tail). He lives in a 20 gallon tank. His diet is crickets (1 inch in size), sausage, chicken, steak, etc. In his home he has a bark tunnel, and a reptile jungle gym. He has a water bowl and i use sand and dirt as substrates. I use one clamp light w/ a 100 watt bulb making temperatures about 85-90 degrees. I am noticing my monitor is growing too large for his cage. I plan to get a new tank 55 gallons next week as well as a larger clamp light and higher wattage bulb (150). I would like to know if there is anything else i can do to help make his habitat better for next week.

Hello Ppk:
Another week in the tank your monitor is in won't bother it at all. The 55 will be a nice tank that will give your Savannah plenty of room for a while. Since it's such a short time until you get the bigger tank I would just leave the lizard where it is. Good Luck!!!

I believe your temperature should be higher, many people recommend up to 120-130 degrees. The helpful people in the monitor forum can assist your further (I just have a Timor).

Good, I'm happy im doing fine. I did just notice that hes shedding again and it looks like hes having a hard time manuvering through the cage cuz its getting tight so ive decided its time to move to 55. Well, thanks!
