Need some advice on calming a WC Male Mali.

HalosExotics May 13, 2004 10:12 PM

Hi, I have two malis right now. One male and one female. Just got the girl a day ago from Deer Fern Farms.

The male was wild-caught in early summer of 03' and he hasn't really calmed down ever. He is very fat and healthy, but he is just so skittish from being captive. Any ideas on how to calm him down?

The female is fine with handling and all but he filps out when you open the cage and just goes off and runs into his hidebox.

Thanks

Phil

Hand feeding, hand feeding, and more hand feeding.
Plus cover his eyes when you pick him up for now. Leave the heat off and let the enclosure get cold, take him out and wrap him in a towel or something on your lap. Stick your hand in there and catch some tv for a while. He'll associate you with warmth. Just keep handling him, especially in the mornings when they are calm.
