Hi i have heard that snails are a good food for uro's and was just wondering if the ones i have around my house are the same as the ones people feed their geckos.
Thanks,
Matt

if i were you, i would try not to feed my reptiles random stuff that comes from outdoors. its just a bit risky when you think in terms of parasites. snails often serve as intermediate hosts for different parasites, so it would be difficult to recommend using those snails. on the other hand, if you could isolate a few and get em to breed, maybe you could try feeding those snails, but that would take a lot more time. its your call.

The F1 generation could have parasites too passed on from the parents...Don't feed them random prey items...It's not good.

Thanks for the advice. I don't think i will feed my geckos the snails but i don't see any problem with feeding your geckos field collected insects. I feed my giant day gecko exclusivly on moths and grasshoppers collected from outside during the summer. I have been doing this for several year with no ill effects on my gecko insted she seems do like and be much more active when fed wild prey.

when you think about what they've been eating in the wild anyway, it doesn't seem wrong to feed them things you find outside. I don't feed mine anything from outdoors, but I don't condone it either.
