Ocho photo shoot!

kephy May 14, 2004 09:42 AM

I took him out front today for some pictures because he was looking so nice in the natural light. He was doing fine and being inquisitive.... wanted to eat some grass but I wouldn't let him. Then some birds flew in nearby and he got upset.

Made for some good pictures though!

Great pics. A few of mine respond the same way when outside and something flies over head. That is one of the only few things that cause them to beard up, and become defensive. The more I take them out though the more they get use to things. Last year my Big Foster was so scared to go outside. He's finally getting use to it a little inside a mesh cage The Big Chicken LOL.

Great pics. I love it when they flare that beard and give you a look like, "back off pal!".

Nice dragon! Hey, did you get that name from Bear in the Big Blue House?? That is my son's favorite show! (I like it too, shhh).

No, actually at the time we got him he was the eighth pet in our house. All of our reptiles had names ending with "o" (unintentionally until it became noticable) so we just kept up the trend and named him "Eight" in Spanish.

Beard in the Big Blue House is a great kids show, though. I don't make a point to watch it, but when I'm around kids who do I find it very enjoyable.

Sometimes they get frieghtened and Bolt ! My uromastyx did that once, she spotted a big bird and thought she was lunch.

Also be real careful what he snaps at out there. Had a friend, her beardie snapped up a bug , so fast she could not stop him.

It was a lighting bug.

Her beautiful dragon died , and she felt so terrible.

Enjoy, but be careful

Yeah I know about lightning bugs and pesticides and other hazards. I only take him outside every great once in a while, and for short periods, closely supervised. He gets plenty of UV and suppliments inside the house so he doesn't do outside basking. I built him an outdoor enclosure last summer and he HATED it, so no more of that.

I also love the outdoor photo shots though. I like to mess with the camera and taking lizard pics, and the lighting is superb.

Plus it gives the pic a natural LOOK!

Your guy is very handsome, inside or out Hhehehe
