Cane hypo gene be seen immediately in a new litter????

tommyparks May 14, 2004 10:31 AM

This morning i had 13 babies. My female was a normal and i bred her to a really red hypo male. The babies all came out looking fairly normal. The hypo male was the only one she was with positively. Should the hypos be evident immediately or will it take some time for it to show??

they usually look quite dark and average at first.. within the next few days you should be able to realize which are hypos or not.. easiest by looking at the tail area.. and after their first shed you will see the hypo colors revealed more..

then, there is the chance your male was not a true hypo.. or even a rarer chance she may have retained common sperm from last year, or an earlier male..

can you please post a pic of the babies and your male?

Thanks - Joe

Can you post a picture of the male? You should be able to tell the difference right away!

Thanks
