Yes they will get lesss moisture from the freeze dried kind but Zoomed makes crickets that come in can called Can O' Crickets. They are cooked in the can so all moisture is kept inside. Mine seem to love them and eat them with no problem when I buy them every now and then. I never used the freeze dried kind as they do have les moisture, but I would think they are also cheaper then the Zoomed brand.

My Beardies LOOOOVE Can o Crickets and I do too. I HATE live crickets for various reasons and so my Vet recommended I try "CAN O CRICKETS".

I bought them cheap here at reptiledirect. The more you buy the cheaper each can is.

1. they're around 75% moisture which is great.

2. they're cooked in the can so the exoskeleton is SOFTENED. I would imagine cooking them in the can also kills any "bad stuff" the crickets may carry.

3. they sell regular sized crickets and small sized. Mind you the regular sized ones are a nice size too. Larger than anything I've purchased alive.

4. they're dead

5. I dust them in the can, shake it up, and I pour it into a dish and my Dragons run to the dish and devour them.

6 they're dead

7. the odor is reasonable if you don't sniff the can when you open it.
