Is this okay? I have an extra piece that would fit my 20L perfectly. I thought I could put a piece of paper towel were they poop so It would be easy to clean.Somewhere I thought I read that they can get thier toenails ripped out by the carpet is this true?

I have also read more than once that they can get their toes caught in the carpet. Also, they can get their teeth caught when lunging for prey. One guy posted about his experience with carpet. He came home one day and his baby had her teeth stuck in the carpet. She got so stressed out that she also dropped he tail in the process. May wanna stick with tile or paper towels to be safe.

I agree. I started w/ the carpet, but found my sub adult leos catching their mouths on it while hunting. I used paper towel successfully & now have tile in my tanks. It looks great & was really cheap! The 12x12 inch tiles sold in home improvement stores fit perfectly in a 20 Long. You'll need to buy 3 & have one cut, so you have 2 full & one partial piece (measure the inside of your tank before shopping. the store will cut the tile for about 25 cents per cut). The whole project was about $4.

Right on. The tile looks great in my opinion. It is super cheap (cheaper than the carpet), easier to clean, safer, and it looks really nice. There are tons of designer tiles (just make sure the tile is not slick). Not to mention the thermal conductivity it provides.

I have used the carpet since October (when we first got geckos). I keep all 4 on the carpet, no adverse problems. The mealworms are eaten out of a dish, so they are not eating the carpet. I place a paper towel on the bathroom spot. The stuff looks good and is easy to maintain. Cost me $7.00 for two pieces, so one buy covered both 20 gallon longs.
