Yes, all the mulberries are, for the purposes of rearing silkies, one and the same. It is just a variation in fruit color. Since they are relatively fast growers you may be able to begin using them next year. If you are not interested in the fruit then just get a male(s). These trees can become a bit aggressive in warmer temps (as far north as CT - see link below)
Keep in mind: a plant needs foliage in order for photosynthesis to occur so don't strip it of leaves. You should also let it go thru the shock of transplant and become established before collecting its leaves. So use the ones down the road and the chow while your little tree gets established. Anytime you plant something new (especially in warmer weather) it should receive AT LEAST an inch of water per week. May not sound like much but it is. The key is water less frequent/longer watering (called "deep" watering) rather than a few minutes everyday.
