jerzreptile21 May 14, 2004 03:46 PM

Is it healthy to leave a female in with the male while shes pregnant and laying clutches ? I have no more space as good as this left. I just wanna kno how bad it is, then i would be forced to move her. Thanks

I'm not sure if it's bad or not...We have left our male in with our female and she is getting ready to lay her 3rd clutch. We move their hides when they eat and make sure they are both eating right. They don't really bother each other. What size tank are they in? We have ours in a 55gallon. Hope all works out.

My female just laid her 3rd clutch the other day and she has been housed with the male the whole time. Sometimes the male will bite her tail trying to mate with her while she's pregnate but she wont allow that and he gives up. I also have kept my fat tails together while pregnate and nothing bad happened. Infact the first egg just hatched about a week ago and I'm expecting about 5 more any time. Best of luck to ya.

You should really seperate when the female is laying. Laying stresses the female out enough without a male in there trying to mate with her. Good luck

That's what I was going to say.

Can you just imagine being pregnant, bloated, with morning sickness - just over all HORRIBLE - and here comes your hubbie wanting to practice making more babies!!!! Or he doesn't put down the toilet lid and you, going to the bathroom at 2 AM in the pure dark, fall in... And so on...

LoL Now that I think about it, you might want to separate them for HIS own safety...!

Seriously, though, to be on the safe side, you should keep them separated so you don't run the chance of the male stressing abou the female.
