New snake owner , needs some advice

quin Jun 16, 2003 10:56 PM

I was givin a 4yr old ball python about a week ago. I new to owning a snake. I was wondering how long should it take for her to adapt to me, and when I should start being able to handle her. she is very timid, I had to change the bedding that was in there as it was the same as when I got the cage, and it was a bit dirty. When I got her out she lunged at me, kindda had me abit worried.
Much thanks in advance for any and all help with my new friend

Don't rush things. Give the snake at least 10 days to settle in. A month would be better. Read up on BPs and ensure you have its environment set up correctly. Then you can start taking it out perhaps, 10 min every other day.
