Help with ID?

ellasmommie May 14, 2004 08:29 PM

Hello everyone. I'm hoping that someone here can help me ID a couple reptiles we had gotten in at the shop I work at. We were told that one was a Blue Spotted Amoeba and the other a Green Amoeba but I am unable to find any info on either. I really wish that I had a photo to show all of you to make it easier. Has anyone heard of either of these? Or maybe know what they really are? I will do my best with a description. Both, I'm assuming are juvi measuring about 7 or 8 inches from the tip of the nost to the tip of the tail. They look the came other than color. One has a beautiful aqua blue on the inside of the thighs and sides, the rest is brown with darker spots. The other is hald brown and half green... the brown half has the same darker spots. Both as VERY fast, hyper little buggers and LOVE their pinky mice (tearing into them much like a monitor would. Banging it off the ground and glass of the enclosure then just swallowing it right down.) They also eat super worms and greens. They have long bodies but average leg length.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know! We'd like to have as much info on them as possible to pass on to any customers.

Thank you very much!!
Heather

I'm pretty sure they're Central/South American lizards that have lots of common names like spotted, rainbow or green depending on their color. I did a search on google and came up with nearly 10 subspecies so you might want to compare yours to a few pics to help determine what they might be.
Here's a url to a care sheet I found for a Green Ameiva since I don't see any linked here on Kingsnake.

Hope that helps.
