Getting a Tokay gecko off

antonm Jun 16, 2003 11:16 PM

Just out of curiousity, does anyone know of a good way to make a Tokay gecko let go? I know they got lock jaw so if its similar to a pitbull it should have a little spot you can pop out. Some have said that you can put them under water and they let go but the one that was stuck to my friend's hand swirled in a bucket of water for 2 minutes without budging. Hes dealt with them a lot and has cut off heads so thats kinda sad....Anyway since I own one I want to know if theres a safe way to remove the guy if he ever latches on. Thanks in advance.

Blow into the sides of its mouth and at the same time allow its pads to stick to some surface.

I think the fumes from rubbing alcohol will make them let go without hurting them......

Yep, if you put a dab of alcohol in its moth with a Qtip(just dab) it will let go
