Cicadas????

Hello all...I'm new here...
I have a question...My pops just fed my leo a cicada that just came out of its shell...I'm quite concerned because I "heard" cicadas should not be eaten by dogs. Does anybody know if it is safe or unsafe for my leo?

they've been living in pesticide and fertilizer soaked soil for 17 years, do you think they dont have any of that? also they have a VERY high chitin content.
