Tail wagging female

Aesear Jun 17, 2003 12:18 AM

ok, I know that females will sometimes wag their tails when they are hunting prey but generally don't do so when ready to mate the way a male will. well yesterday she started waving her tail up in the air very slowly back and forth like a flag as she stood in front of the entrance to the cool hide. the male kept a fair distance from her but didn't seem particularly intimidated. they weren't eating/stalking prey, they weren't preparing to mate, and they didn't fight. she just did her tail wiggling for a while and then stopped. it was as if there were no reason for it whatsoever. just wondering if anyone has ever had this experience before or if they know any other possible motivation that she might have had for doing this. thanks!

Some females do sometimes wag their tails when they are interested in mating. It isn't nearly as fast as the males, but they have been known to do it.

My female does that as well. Slowly in a cat like fasion she wriggles her tail.
