Snow corn not eating....

happycrook May 15, 2004 03:38 PM

Our snow corn, Nessy, has not eaten in 2 weeks. We knew she was going to shed, she did 3 days ago, but still no interest at all in food. We move her out of her house to feed and have tried different size pinks... nothing works. She is still active and friendly, no mites, and fresh H2O and bark...HELP! Any suggestions? Thanks!

I would say that she is gravid with eggs, just becuase you did not breed her does not mean she did not produce eggs. If she is older then two then with the time of year, the fact that she just shed, I would guess she is going to lay a bunch of eggs. If no male was allowed near her then the eggs will be infertile, if she had a boyfriend spend the night then who knows? Give her a nest box and see what she does in the next few days.
Good Luck

I have a yearling female amel. Can females lay eggs with out being with a male at all? I would think they need the male to help produce eggs. My female is not big enough though since she is still eating fuzzies.

This is the first I've heard of this!! Thank you for bringing it to my attention! She's only about 8 months old... does her age matter?

Thanks!

It is normally a problem in the second year, where the snake starts to produce eggs with or without a male inside the cage ever! Although if she is a big girl for her age it still might be the problem....
As for the answer above, yes they will still produce infertile eggs without ever seeing a male snake.
good luck
