I am building 2 cages (one for a BP, one for somethind undecided). They are going to be 2' by 4'. I was going to heat it with heat panels, but they are to expensive for my tastes and none will fit my cage good. I remembered about people saying some heat pads can be used in the cage. Is there any truth behind those sayings? if so which brands? where do i get them? is there any precautions i need to take?

there are heat pads that can be used in the tank, they from what I have seen are just about expensive as the radiant panels. There are UTH (under tank heater) these work by sticking to the glass on the bottom of the tank. They won't work on wood. Radiant panels in some uses are the way to go give a warmth that is close to natural sunlight.

I use human heat pads that are about $20something canadian.

I can't remember what brands but i have 2 of the simplest models. I got them from Walmart and well anywhere will have them, i just buy the cheapest one. also i might add mine are under tile which distributes and contains the heat well

.... but Canadian walmart is 300 times better than U.S. walmart. I got some film there for $3 canadian dollars, so I got so excited and drove across three cities to get to walmart at home, but the same film cost $8 U.S. money at the walmart we have here! I'm also in love with these gummy bears in Canada in a pink bag called allan something, but i havent found them anywhere in the U.S.! I think I'm moving to Canada...

I wouldn't put anything electrical inside the enclosures. You can always get 11" mylar heat tape and make you own panels. The Bean Farm has it very cheap. on page 2 under 'Heating Supplies": www.beanfarm.com
