My albino redear eggs keep exploding

spottedturtleman May 15, 2004 04:17 PM

Last year and this year my eggs look like a balloon about to pop! Last year I thought they went bad but the babies were fine after a week. Today I see one of my eggs looked deflated it split accrossed the bottom but the turtle is still in the membrain. Anyone have any idea why this is happining? I incubate spotted , woods, box and diamond backs the same way without a problem.

It is hard to say with limited information and not seeing the eggs but my first thought was too much moisture.
The eggs can absorb too much moisture and swell up. Sometimes bad enough to kill the babies.
Could there be something different between their incubation set-up and the others?

As luck would have it they are hatching but I do think I was keeping them too moist.
