mariasman May 15, 2004 04:24 PM

How many adult breeder rats would it take to consume a full 50 pounds of dog food in one month?

I'm not sure, but I keep 9 rats and 4 mice on a 50lb bag of mice/rat lab block, and i've had it for going on 2 months now. and i've only used like MAYBE 15 or so lbs of it.

Lets see, I had 6 adult rats (4 females and 2 males) plus young at various stages, and I went through 5pounds of dogfood plus a cerial mix (puff wheat, dry veggie pasta, dry roasted non salted soy nuts, rolled oaks, Ancient Grains cerial and sunflower seeds). If I had just fed the dog food, I would estimate you could feed at least 10 adult rats a month on 50 pounds of dogfood.
