WHAT is going on here? Socks? LOL

ForestTime May 15, 2004 05:49 PM

Can any of you guys tell me what is going on with Forest from this picture?

Both paws/claws (front & back) but only on the left side. It's been like this for a few days & it locks so ODD!

We haven't changed any lighting or such so I know he's not burned & they don't seem to hurt him. He lets me look at them with no problem. It looks like when our snakes shed! But with such perfect lines? Only on 2 paws & on the same side of his body?

He's shedding some scales on top of his head but this is really weird looking. None from tail or body....just these 2 claws/paws..

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks all!

Can he have gotten sunburnt while basking outside?

Don't laugh!

Good grief.

Thanks,
Terri

I've seen Iguana's do that when shedding before.. I've also seen it in other lizards... *nods* Including my Savannah Monitor... I'd keep an eye on it and see if it doesn't shed off in a few days.. if it doesn't... probably time for a vet trip to see if it could be something else.

My andy sheds both front paws like that. The vet said thats just the way his body sheds and not to worry about it; it will come off naturally with soaking and time

We adopted Forest back in February & I have NEVER seen this before. That is just too funny.

Thanks guys.

Yup, that's exactly how Grass sheds. Pretty funny looking, no? His tail sheds like that too. Baths & "foot massages" do the trick in a couple days

I'm surprised you haven't noticed this before. The crazy thing is the timing (or lack of it). Sometimes it's one foot, sometimes two, or sometimes all four at once. It's weird how they shed. I like when their spikes are ready to shed and they have this grey strip down the middle of their back...
