Well, we're done! Luna spent the night resting and digging. This morning before I left for class (8:00) she was filling in the hole. I got home at 4:30 (long class!) and she was in her branches and the 6 crickets I left in her cup were gone
Then she ate a butterworm and 2 more crickets. Psyched! I expected to see her all covered in dry sand/soil but she's clean as a whistle! It does look like her snout and claws are a little abraded so I will keep an eye on them.
The final count was 42 weighing in at almost 32g - 1/3 of her total weight. Here's a pic of the largest and the average - I'm curious to know if this is the typical size of fertile eggs or are the infertile smaller? I can't believe they all fit in her!! It's amazing!
This has been a frustratingly wonderful experience and I am so proud of my little girl. And frankly, I am glad I don't have to find safe homes for 42 little Lunas
Thanks for everyone's input, support and patience(!) in this very lengthy process. For those of you who may not recall, Luna's siter, Ohana (Sonia/anson is her "Mom"
, laid her first infertile clutch back around December which is when Luna began showing colors and we all expected her to follow right behind...but, nooooo! Luna kept me hopping for 5 months!
OK, I'm going to have a beer and stare at the TV for awhile! LOL!
later,
