NO interest just bite?!?!

tim16a May 15, 2004 08:05 PM

I'm new to breeding cal kings and i'm wondering if its too late to introduce a female to a male. i opened their cages and threw each others sheds in and all it seemed like is that they wanted to bite. Bit my snake hook, the shed, water dish, side of box, paper towels and almost my hand.

Sounds like they are hungry. This is my first year breeding cal kings too. When my female isn't interested she flaps her tail around and bunches up but they have never tried to bite. I usually make sure I feed them a day or two before introduction, minimizing the odds of them trying to eat each other, and have never had a problem. Another factor is have they been cooled for three months? The male needs this time to build up sperm and the female uses this cycle as a factor in ovary production. I hope this helps but like I said I too and somewhat of a newbie with kings.

Good Luck

Scott

Ty for your input. i'm not sure if i'm going to introduce them to each other. they both seem way to eager to feed. afraid of one eating the other
