I talked to a guy selling Collareds on kingsnake, and he said that the only color CB females come in are grey, or those brown types. I know for a fact, from you, that this isn't true. Should I look for other colors, which i want, or stick to an all grey female tank? If colored females are so hard to come across, where should I start looking? Also, I would greatly like your advice on my other, most recent post (with my story at the pet shop).
Thanks,
Collaredkeeper

...and I got my first lizards from Paul McIntosh in TN, though mine were from pure SW Texas parents and these had no yellow at all. I am totally pleased with the females (I bought 6) and they show a nice range of colors from pale greens to pale blues with only one being "brown", but she has very nice blue-greens on her forelegs. One of the 3 males I got is about as blue as I would ever expect of anything apart from a C. dickersonae. YMMV, of course.

Thanks a lot DC. I hoped you'd post. I have seen Paul Macintosh's ads, but aren't his females WC. I've heard WC would not be able to go with my CB. Is there a way that it would work?
Thanks a lot DC.

Even if they were CB, they're babies, which i couldn't put in my Cage. I called him and he wouldn't sell any females. I don't know if I should raise the babies up and then put them in with my Collareds.
Please help,

...is just an observation on the availability of collareds. I find it pretty rare for someone to offer an adult "colorful" CB C. collaris female; it happens, but don't hold your breath. Very poor odds, see the words 'extreme patience'. However, this is nearing the time of year when the World + Dog will be having hatchlings from their captive lizards. I'm guessing that Paul either is not having a lot of hatchlings this year or its still a bit early in the season. My take on what I read in the ad is that Paul does have CB's of both sexes, as well a a small group of WC's, but how he offers them is of course, up to him. Maybe later on he will have more and allow a choice of gender. Meanwhile, others will chime in as the hatch proceeds and the teenies grow out. Collared hatchlings grow pretty fast, and I'd say you will be wise to obtain youngsters from the best colored CB parents you can find and make up a nursery viv to grow them out yourself, until they reach a size which will allow them to share the tank with your adult(s). I'm sure several posters on this forum will have some hatching about now, and I believe John S. has already posted about some recent ones, and his adults are superbly colored. Look over some of the posts from the recent past and do some private emails, the forum *rules* do not permit any sort of marketing posts other than good news announcing a hatch!

Thank you a lot. Dc I will set up my old 45 gallon and raise up maybe two of the best colored females I would be able to find. Your info helped a lot.
Thanks,

If you want colorful females wait just alittle longer. They are out there. I have some hatchlings C. collaris that should be colorful. Probaby greenish with some peach on them. I also hope to have yellowhead hatchlings before end of summer.
