under tank heaters for plastic tub tanks

kich4theanswer May 16, 2004 08:29 AM

i some how ended up with yet anouther packman frog, i really don't have enough money yet to go and buy a whole lighting system and since its staying arounded 80 degrees here in New England. I'm keeping him in one of those plastic tub tanks. I have everything eles to fit him but the lighting part. So i was just woundering if its possible, during the winter, if i can keep an under tank heater on, under the water dish part of the tank, without it burning and melting the plastic, it would be a very small size tank heater though. thank you guys!

I'm not sure about a regular UTH, but I've been using a human heating pad set on low for one of my snakes (until I get the final cage built) and it's working just fine.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the current cage the snake is in is also a plastic tub, a Sterilite container to be exact, and I haven't seen any signs of it getting too hot with the human heating pad.
