giant madagascar hognose will not eat.

Hi, i have 2 madagascar hognose that i bought from xtreme reptiles, i am having problems getting them to feed- any help would be appreciated.

Wish I could give you a good answer on that, but every one of those I have gotten has been a real pain to get to eat if not established beforehand.

I have been able to get most of the giants that I have kept to feed only after months of offering and then assist (force feeding) till they got the idea.

You might want to try the hide box trick (put small food animal in hide box and let the snake crawl in and find it.)

Thanks Frank, I will continue to try, its disheartening as I was assured by the seller that they were eating with out any problems, these are neat snakes, I hope it works out

It's sad how often they will say that to make a sale. At least it's a hardy species that will tolerate force feeding if it comes to that. good luck,

It finally ate, got it to go for a live mouse, then it took a fresh killed one after that
One more to go !!
