breeding question

ghardin Feb 07, 2003 12:39 PM

Aug/Sep - multiple copulations
Early Oct - ovulation (or so I thought)
End Oct - shed
It's now 109 days after the shed that I thought was POS. She's refused food the whole time, and thinned up front while remaining thick in back.

2 weeks ago I noticed what seemed to be ovulation again. Now her eyes are clouding up and it looks like the start of a shed cycle. Maybe things didn't take or I misidentified ovulation earlier? If so, is it too late to get the male back in with her now? I'm completely confused...

My best friend is in a similar situation. We paired her female with my male. Courting was evident though neither of us saw actual copulation. Even so, she appeared to go through ovulation in October, then shed in late October, we left them together for a month or more just to be sure. I sent her home in December after she stopped allowing my male near her. She shed shortly after she got home and appears to be going through a third shed. For all intents and purposes, she still appears gravid - basking almost constantly in a curled pile, thicker through the lower part of her body, etc. Any ideas on this situation?
