To me that is gonna get really crowded if say, you have litters of even just 8 ea. You are talking 28rats! I tend to keep two girls in a tub about that size....breed them but then the male comes out before they kindle. Then I don't leave all the pups. I don't need many to go to weaning even. I weed out litters to 8 ea immediately as I have many animals that take that size. Then I feed off and freeze off many more within the first two weeks. If it is rats that I know I will want to raise to weaning I keep them in a 18X24X 18high cage (wire) and have a big box to provide a second layer and a full sized wheel. OK, so I have spoiled rats.
