Another nice south Brazilian.

This is a sister to the one below. She also has red going from the tail well up into the body, but scale counts show she is amarali all the way. Like I mentioned below, there may be some selective breeding going on here, however unintentional. The other animals in the litter all had fewer "tail" bands. (We tend to keep what is pretty, and bright red tails are pretty.) The father was Tim Belknap's personal holdback from his 97 litter, and is a freak (actually most of the animals in that litter were freaks in one way or another) in that he has a long red "tail". But actually the scale counts of his tail show that he falls right in the middle of the amarali range. In another couple generations we may have animals that look like Surinames, but stay much smaller. (The Kerry King/Belknap animals tend to stay quite small, less than six feet. The 94 Lemke animals can get quite large, though.)
