South Florida Mole King

Snakesunlimited1 May 16, 2004 10:54 PM

I recently had the luck to come across two Okeechobee Co. Mole Kings. Both are females, both are gravid. The first was one I was lucky enough to buy from a guy who found it in a locale I spend alot of time herping in. The snake is about 30" long and seems to be carrying about 9 eggs. The second mole king I came across was in the same locale, within a quarter mile of where the first one came from, about a week to ten days later. It was the first trip for my girl friend to this locale and about the 400th for me so she must be the lucky charm I needed. This snake is about 36" and seems to be carrying about 11 eggs. I was wondering who else has any South Florida Mole Kings out there and from what locale. I have seen a few d.o.r. sfmk in the same area and would like to see different locale animals. Any pics would help and I will post some of these two if I can catch them out of their nest box. I don't want to stress them to much as they are very high strung even for kings.

I have spoken with Len before and have seen his stock but there are other animals out there that were sold through glades and I am wondering if anyone wants to add new blood to those lines. I have two unrelated females so I should be ok, but since there are fewer than 20 animals that I have heard of outside of captive born stock the blood lines are a little thin
