What is the best type of Thermometer

lnwolf May 16, 2004 11:34 PM

What is the best type of Thermometer to use in monitoring cage temps. I know it is a simple question but I am looking for the advice of more experienced hobbiest that have learned from mistakes as to what type and which style is best

Thanks Rich

Probe thermometers. You can buy them just about anywhere (Home Depot, Walmart, etc). The probes can be placed underneath or just on top of the substrate to give you a more accurate temperature. I actually bought a couple online because they had some with 2 probes for temps OR two probes with one for humidity. I can't remember if I bought mine from Big Apple Herp or ProExotics but they're both great companies.

The sticky type thermometers aren't accurate enough although the sticky hydrometers (sp?) work fine.

You might also invest in a tempgun for about $25 (Pro-Exotics sells em not sure where else) because it lets you instantly measure temps anywhere. (It's a fun toy too.)
