How often.....................?

SlipKorn May 16, 2004 11:59 PM

How often would you feed a pair of copperheads? I have one that is 41 inches and she eats one jumbo mouse a week. The other is about 20 inches and he eats 1 small adult mouse evey 5 days. Is this ok or do I need to change at all? Thanks.

That feeding schedule should work fine. I personally would probably lengthen your 5-day schedule with your one copperhead (perhaps every 7-10 days). My 25 year old copperhead gets 2 small rats each month. My younger copperheads are fed 1-2 appropriately sized mice every 10 days....in the winter, if they are not hibernating, I cut back to feeding one or two times a month. Hope this helps. Rob

I agree except I would step the larger one up to small rats instead of jumbo mice. I have a Speckled rattlesnake that eats medium rats twice a month with no problems and he is about the same size.
