SC Press: Columbia Girl Escapes From 17 Foot Snake

May 17, 2004 08:36 AM

WLTX 19 (Columbia, South Carolina) 17 May 04 Columbia Girl Escapes From 17 Foot Snake
A Columbia girl is thankful to be alive after a 17-foot snake bit her hand.
Mekazia Cambridge, 12, was bitten by a burmese python when she was playing at a friend's house. She was handling her pet gerbil earlier and that's why the python snapped at her hand when she went to pet the snake.
The python latched onto her hands and then started to wrap around her body. But Mekazia says she remembered what to do from watching the Animal Planet Network. She said she played dead, and when the snake began to loosen it's grip on her hand, she pulled it out.
Mekazia says her encounter with the snake hasn't scared her away from her dreams of becoming a veterinarian.

Glad to see the press explain why the snake bit her. Most people aren't smart enough to figure out it was the girls fault but at least they have a hint.

it was here falt. not the snakes. man, snakes are always getting bad pablissity. people think snakes are mean. but they only attack when they are threatned, or when you smell like there favorite treat. lol (come on, tell me you never had a go at someones hand beacuse it smelt like peporoni pizza.) it wasnt the snakes fault. you should always whash your hands before and after you handle your snake, its good hyjean for you and your best budd.

Great analogy, I always bite my friends when they smell like pizza. That one made me laugh out loud big time.
