My torts like to bask under there heat source after they eat too. Plus if your tort is very young he will probably sleep a lot at first and he might still not be used to everything yet since he is so new. As long as he is eating I wouldn't worry to much. He probably just needs time to adjust. Good luck and have fun with the little one!

Assuming the tortoise is not ill and has a proper environemnt, it could be that the tortoise is eating and sleeping as tortoises tend to do.
BUT, I've observed that if you provide a tortoise a pile of food, it will walk over, eat the pile, and then go sleep.
If instead you spread the food around the environment, it will walk around, nibbling a little as it goes, and be more active.
If you can safely spread the food around, try to do so.
And yes, it is possible to feed too much food. Tortoises are like every other creature - they can get fat. It's just that we don't know for sure what's too much. I'd say regular feedings of small meals will be better than one big meal. And shoot for a varied diet of weeds and greens with some supplementation to fill the gaps.
I feed him less today and he seem to be more active. I soaked him later on and I let him walk around my room. Thanks for answering my question I'll spread his food around tomorrow.
