MVB Wattage question

uncg2005 May 17, 2004 09:26 AM

Ok im just trying to get an idea for what wattage bulbs people are using the light going to be roughly 2 ft from cage floor but can't go any higher because its a fixture. Now I know i can use elevated basking spots if my temps are low and am debating between using a 100/160 watt zoomed flood or a 100 watt trex spot lamp just wondering if anyone using them can give me idea of temps produced.

I use a 160 watt powersun in my tank, which is 4x2x2. The dragon climbs to about a foot away from it. It depends on the size of your tank and the temp in your house tho, I actually need additional heat sources at some times during the year.

I had two 100W flood PowerSuns in my 75 gal tank for a while, and they could take the basking sites beyond 90F at 12"!! I had to use and additional basking lamp. Now I use 1x 100W flood in the cool end and a 100W spot halogen basking lamp above the logs. I also found my beardie seemed to be getting too much UV from two MVBs - he's much happier now he can self regulate from side to sie.
