Cage questions

PAsnake May 17, 2004 04:33 PM

I am using paper towels ad substrate, toilet paper roll hides, a fake rock water bowl; and my snake, Pele, seems happy. Now she/he seems to be getting ready to shed. Eyes looking kinda dull/cloudy the last two days and i actually saw her rubbing her head/neck today. Should i provide a flat rock, tree branch or something to make it easier for the shed? Also how would i thoroughly clean the rock or branch?

thanks

I would put one of those items in to help the shed. It will make it easier for your little one. I use the branches from the bird section of petstores or some of my snakes use the log hides to rub on and start their shed.

If you're wanting to use something from outside, I think you're supposed to bake it in the oven or something like that - i can't remember exactly, but I'll see if I can find some info on that if noone else chimes in. Also, make sure it's not cedar, etc.

Practically anything rough (rock, branch, etc) will do.
