few questions about a young female ball python

madmix85 May 17, 2004 05:13 PM

I had a few questions about my young female ball python.
As for her age I believe she is about a year to a few months under a year old.

In any case I had a few questions because she is so young.
When I first got her several months ago I was told I would need to feed her the frozen pinkies, but I soon found she had no interest in them.
I waited a few weeks and she managed to graduate to mice.

I've been having problems getting her to constrict and hold on.
My dad has a 10 year old male that I used to handle quite a bit before I got this one.

I'm not sure if this is just an age issue, or if she needs more handling.
Is it just the act of handling her, or are there certain training tips I can use to ease her along?

I've been having the problem of her either trying to wander off or just letting go when shes around my wrist... this caused her to fall off a couple of times but she hasn't learned from it yet I guess...

just seems to be a little flighty. However BP's arent exactly arboreal and seem to not be as inclined to hang on as others. I can even tell a big difference between the grabbing instincts of my cal king..little to non..and my semi aboreal BRB wich wraps around like a freaking bracelet LOL. It shouldcalm down and relax after some handling. Make sure you support her at all times til she get the hang of it. If she is still kinda flighty as far as trying to get away often then goes off feed reduce handling to feed again..sometimes people misunderstand the signs of stress. If shes eating just keep working with her.
