I just got a new temp gun at the Pomona show, and I was having fun trying it out on everything and I realized I don't know what the temps in the cage (basking, cooling) SHOULD be. While I'm on the topic, I also wanted to know how hot the bath water should be and if I can measure that with my new gun. Anyone have any greatly appreciated ideas? Thanks.

The cooler end of the cage should be about 85 degrees. For babies, the basking spot should be 110-115, and for adults 100-105.

As for water, I wouldn't use the temp gun, could damage it. I just use my hands. If it's luke warm to the touch, it's fine, if it feels a little too warm on your hands, it's probably too hot. I just use my best judgement.

Thanks! Then the cage for my new two month old is pretty good, with the basking at 108-109 and the cooling at 84.
