sexing??

How old must a dragon be before the sex can be determined and how is it done? I am unsure of one of my supposed females.

Most dragons can be sexed at almost any age. But when they are younger than about 4 months or under 12 inches, they can fool you.

What you do is hold the dragon in your hand and gently lift the tail up and back to almost a 90 degree angle, look at the base of the tail after the vent. If there are two bulges than it is a male and if one bulge or flatness is present, then you probably have a female. There are a few other ways to look at it, you can look along the underside of the back legs to check for enlarged femoral pores, but there are some females that have them too so it is not always as easy that way. Head size and head bobbing are also characteristic of each sex, so they this too is not always correct. However, it is a little rare for a female to bob like a male, they usually can't get as black as males can too, so that is usually a good sign! LOL
