Wanting to change my WTF setup!! INFO!!

TANZEE May 17, 2004 07:22 PM

Hey everyone. I want a change in my tree frog's home! Right now I have lots of plastic plants (sorry, you can't convince me to go to real plants!), and bark and lots of logs and a large water dish.
My ultimate goal is to get rid of the water bowl and have a nice little pond for them. I can't find any tank dividers unfortunately.
First off, does anyone know a fabulous website I could visit that sells really great stuff for frogs or toads??
I want to use some moss in there but the guy at the pet store told me not to!? Should I use real moss or fake?
So my main question is how could I make this a land/water set up and get rid of the ugly water bowl?
If anyone has any pics of their tanks they want to send me to give me some ideas that would be great. Post a reply to this message and let me know so I can give you my email addy!!!
Thanks in advance!!!!!

well....since i cant convince you to switch to real plants, the next best thing to do would be get a new substraite going, it can really change the look of your tank! if you really want to get a unique water bowl book some time at alocal pottery studio and let you amigination go! you can really make some intresting stuff, and you can make it the exact shape you want. (make sure to use safe nontoxic glazes) i'll post a pic of my WTF tank, but its all about the live plants...anyways, enjoy!

Hey thanks for the pic!
Yeah, sorry, I can't change to real plants. I have a hard enough time keeping my house plants alive!
Maybe some day I will have enough ambition to try it though!
Today I purchased some custom cut glass for my tank. It is for a second level, but it will only take up half of the upper part of my tank. I think I will try to get my filter to become a waterfall or something...I haven't really decided yet. How do people get a stream going in their tanks??-that would be so nice!
If you have any more pics send them my way!!!!

If, and when you decide to try live plants, start off with a potho. those thinks are soo hard to kill, and they grow like weeds. i swear one morning im going to wake up with it wraped around my neck! as for the pond/filter thingy...you need to get a pump or a filter that you can attach a tube to and have the fresh water pumped up to the higest/opposit end part of the pond (or stream or top of the water fall)and let gravity do the rest! water is hard to controle, and it requires LOTS of patients, but the rewards are amazing! best of luck if you go through with it, be sure to post pics!
