Nest Box - Warm End or Cool End?

michaelb May 17, 2004 10:08 PM

Queenie has just done her pre-laying shed. I've replaced her water dish with a nest box (vermiculite/water 50/50 by weight) and the incubator is standing by. I think I'm all set, but I can't find anything in my literature as to where the optimal spot is to set up the nest box. I have a heating pad under one end of the vision cage, to maintain a thermal gradient. Any reaommendations on warm side, cool side, or doesn't it matter that much? Thanks,

My opinion I think you should put it half and half, half on the cool side and half on the warm. If it is moist and warm humidity will build up and that could leave to blisters on the snakes or the eggs will get messed up if you don't see them right away.
