Blizzard Boas?

srsnakes May 18, 2004 12:32 AM

Alright alright i have to ask... What makes a blizard different from a Snow? I know that Snows are produced by a double het for albino and Anery type 1 breed together so are blizzards dh for albino and anery type II??? And another thing what is the difference between type I and type II anery.. Someone who is far wiser than me please set me straight before i pull out my hair... thanks guys...

Sincerely,

but the type 2 comes from a Nicaraguan line...and is far more melanistic than the classic type 1...so a snow from that lineage would have more white....i'm sure that most of the type 1's were imported from columbia.

that's what i get from it anyway...either way you slice it...I WANT ONE!!!!

I think that the Type 2 anery is not suppose to "yellow" out like the snows have been doing. I forget what the exact word for that is....xanthic maybe.....So, I think they are trying to prove that the type 2 anerys will make better looking snows.

Hello,

The Blizzard should come from the Type 2 Anerythristic. THE ONLY problem is we don't know for sure if it will be MUCH better because it isn't here yet. I am working with the only group that I know of, and there are a few people who bought DH's from me. Here is a picture of the Matriarch Type 2 Anerythristic that I used to make my DH's. She is a Mexican Boa actually and not a NIC. I have some Nic anerys too, and they are nice, but just not as high patterned as this snake. This female gave birth again last week to another litter of DH snows. I bred her to an albino again. She took 2 years off, and this is her second litter of DH snow blizzards.

Another thing to keep in mind. The DH snow blizzards are 1/2 Columbian because I used a Columbian Albino. SOOO, techincally, they aren't STRAIGHT Blizzard because of the 1/2 Columbian Gene in them. I'm hoping to get a Blizzard and breed it back to the Matriarch Female and a few other Type 2 anerys, and get 3/4 CA Anerys HET snow/blizzard. I'm sure it will take a few generations to get it complete UNLESS this Anery is ALSO axanthic. If she is, it will be MUCH whiter and not yellow out. I think the first ones will have some yellow in them, but Not as much as the Columbian Snows.

I love the Columbian Snow too. It is a great snake. I just think the Snows will be MUCh better when bred to a Type 2, and get that in there. It would be cool if a TRUE CA albino popped out too, and I would like to use that to THIS female. The only Central American Albinos are T positive Albinos.

Hope this Helps. Take Care, Jeremy Stone

Also, to see a comparison Type 1 Anerythritic. Click this link to this post. http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=455960,456286 This is From BAREPTILES, and shows an EXCELLENT Anerythristic Type 1. Most type 1's yellow up a lot as adults. At least mine have.

Thanks for the easy to understand explanation. I myself had seen many of your posts about the Blizzard boa and thought that my absence on the kingsnake forums for these last couple of months had put me into the dark ages (i see these blizzards and these bloody salmons?). I need to start commin round here more...
