maria1975 May 18, 2004 10:00 AM

ive just bought one of these bulbs for my frilleds new viv.i was advised it was one of the best bulbs out at the moment for uvb i normally use the florecents with a starter but i thought i would give it a try.

Does antone else on here use these and what do you think?

the bulb ive bought is 100 watt spot Active uv heat.

the viv that we have just built is 5 feet long by 3 feet high by 2 1/2 feet deep. i have a 250 watt ceramic heater with a red night spot and a clear day reflector bulb.

i will post a pic as soon as its set up properly

Ive used the t rex active heat bulbs, and find them to be GREAT lights. My animal really seem to respond well to them. The price is a bit high but in the long run likely worth it.

I know Dana and Loren Pennebaker did some checking on some of the "aftermarket" bulbs that claim to be the same, and were VERY MUCH LESS THEN IMPRESSED WITH THEM. However Im not aware if they have tested a active heat bulb or not.

I hope to get a uvb meter myself soon, but if not I will send out a mixture of new bulbs to Dana and have her test them (or do it at wasatch this year....lol...I swear Im going). It would be interesting to see how they rate in comparison to say a Exo-T 8.0 bulb.
