A Poll: To clear up a slight misconception here. Your input needed!!!

Alright here we go again. This will probably get deleted like the last one but I wanted to clear up what a fiery firecracker red dragon or a fiery stud should actually look like. (Regardless of what you might read or see elsehwere.) This is only my humble opinion and anyone please feel free to disagree. Please post your pics showing what you think fits the above description.

This is Sunset. A female that will be producing for me next spring.

and Clifford the fiery stud she will be bred to.

Photos can be deceiving, sometimes on purpose sometimes not. There are people on this forum that have gotten burned because of pictures. When dealing with color there are many factors involved. Lighting, camera, mood of the Beardie and more can influence the photo. Just keep that in mind. I have a Beardie, Tang, one of my very bright, almost day glow breeders. when my wife takes him out of the cage he turns brown. Very hard to show his true colors.

I have seen other ads not selling color that are obviously misleading. A proven breeder female frill that was obviously a male, a 500 gram 19" adult BD that was sub adult and no more than 15". A host like Kingsnake can only do so much to prevent that (KS does a good job). That is why it is important to know who you are buying from and know they have been around and will stay around for the buyers.

I don't know if KS could do it, but you might want to suggest they develop a rating system like they have on E-bay so buyers can get an idea of the reputation of the seller.

I hear what you're saying. Don't think that I am upset because I bought something that was misleading. I haven't bought anything. It just aggravates me to no end when someone tries to sell something they don't really have. I agree that photos can be misleading but nowhere near as much as someone trying to verbally describe something that obviously is not. As for your rating system they have started doing that for people registered on the fauna classifeds. Between that, the board of inquiry, and some common sense you should be able to aviod getting ripped. It just seems people are looking for the next lottery ticket. They buy 100 baby ball pythons @ $6 each and try and sell them as morphs for crazy money or they take normal beardeds and try and find a name that makes them more appealing. As they say in the south. That dog don't hunt.

being in the business, it upsets me no end. There will always be people thinking they can get something for nothing (a bright red proven breeder leusistic 26" 900gram BD for $50, what a steal), and those that feel there is a sucker born every minute (step right up and get your bright red proven breeder leusistic 26" 900gram BD for $50 limited time offer while supplies last). It hurts the buyers and it hurts honest breeders too. most of all it hurts the small breeders who just have a few animals to sell and aren't looking to make a killing, just a few bucks. I don't know how to fix it but I hope someone figures it out!

alphadragon May 18, 2004 06:06 PM

Yeah but you have to remember for baby dragons it is really hard to catch their color but for adult dragons there is really no excuse. Here is a pic of one of my reds with an orange that is in shed behind it they are both barely two months and both females!!
