Feeding my hatchling

Styric May 18, 2004 04:19 PM

I've got a young blairs grayband that we've had for a couple weeks now.

He's about 2'3-2'5 (I'd measure him but he's sleeping off a meal) and I was wondering how much to feed him. He scarfs pinkies down like you wouldn't believe and eats 2-3 no problem. We moved him up to fuzzies and he still eats as many as I will give him.

He's large for his age, or so I've been told (he's my first herp) as he's barely over a month and a half old. The temps are 75/83 during the night and 75/87 during the day. He loves the heat and is very active and curious.

I've heard mixed opinions on this... everything from strictly monitoring and regulating how much he eats to letting him eat all he wants because he's a hatchling and needs the nutrients to grow.

Thanks a bunch!

I think I just have a pig of a grayband...

I think stick with fuzzies, how about this:

Feed the snake 2 fuzzies on Monday
Then feed 2 pinkie mice on Thursday

Just do that every week, and try not to feed it when it's about to shed, which it may do every month or two(I'm not familiar with their growth patterns or anything of that nature).
